The DPR has identified the person responsible for the massive shelling of Donetsk
The fire that the Ukrainian Armed Forces opened on Donetsk this afternoon was conducted to cover up losses following an emergency in the area of responsibility of one of the Ukrainian brigades.

“During the day, our observers recorded the delivery of trench charges in the area of responsibility of the 56th brigade, which the enemy used to retrofit their positions, but due to the low training of personnel during engineering work, at 16.30 an explosion of ammunition occurred, as a result of which one militant was killed, two were injured. After the incident, the evacuation of the dead and injured Ukrainian military personnel was recorded,” the message says.
After this, the brigade command, in order to conceal what had happened, decided to provoke the DPR NM to return fire.
“Trying to hide the true reasons for what happened and shift responsibility for the death of personnel to the DPR NM, war criminal Ivanov ordered to open fire from mortars on the positions of our defenders in the Volvo Center area of Donetsk in order to provoke the people’s militia units to return fire, with further report to higher command about their so-called combat losses,” the press service reported.
According to the department, in total, in the period from 17.55 to 18.30, militants of the 56th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired twelve 120-mm mines.
“Strictly observing the ceasefire, the DPR NM servicemen did not succumb to provocation and did not open fire.
We call on international observers not to stand aside from what is happening, to immediately intervene and get the Ukrainian side to cease firing on our territory, as required by the Minsk agreements, and to prevent the outbreak of another round of conflict in Donbass,” the defense department concluded.
