Activists of patient organizations and parents of sick children held a picket at the Cabinet of Ministers “Children with cancer were left without medicine in 2014.” The main demands of the protesters are to punish those responsible for disrupted government tenders for the purchase of medicines and to immediately find a way to purchase drugs.

Those gathered held posters: “Children with cancer without drugs in 2014! Yatsenyuk is a father and prime minister, do you know?”, “Yatsenyuk, buy medicine, save people!”, “Who will be responsible for failed government procurement of medicines? Who will be responsible for the death of patients?”, “Preventive treatment of children with hemophilia is beneficial to the country”, “Hemophilia is not a death sentence, but without medicine we will die. Don't kill our children!" Several dozen pairs of children's shoes were placed on the pavement in front of the Cabinet of Ministers to demonstrate to officials that these things could very soon be left without their little owners.

“The state turned out to be unable to organize tenders,” said one of the activists. – Today we see the following ways to solve this situation: the Cabinet of Ministers must take responsibility. We expect from him a document that would identify specific steps and the persons responsible for their implementation. It is the responsibility of the Cabinet of Ministers and its organization of this process that can resolve the issue.

This situation can have bad consequences - the exchange rate of the dollar and euro is growing every day, medicines are becoming more expensive. If tenders had been organized properly, the drugs would have been purchased in the spring. Last year they were purchased in May. The problem needs to be solved now. If this is not done, tenders may not take place at all.”

The activists handed over their letter, as well as children's shoes, to the Cabinet of Ministers. “But we won’t limit ourselves to this,” said Dmitry Sherembey, director of the Patients Ukraine Charitable Foundation. – Every morning, at 7-30, I will bring the Prime Minister to Mezhyhirya, where he lives, a pair of children’s shoes and a letter from patient organizations with statistics on how many people have died in the country over the past XNUMX hours. We will do this until either everything changes in the country or people are provided with treatment. The prime minister will know exactly how many people in Ukraine are dying from the government’s inaction.”
As one of the activists told a PolitNavigator correspondent, one of the reasons for the delay in tenders was the massive appeal of their results by pharmaceutical companies. This year, the conditions for the participation of pharmaceutical companies were discriminatory, and the companies appealed the tenders due to violation of their rights. This endangered the lives of many people.
