Budanov threatens to destroy the sacred symbol of Russia
Ukraine will attempt to destroy the bridge across the Kerch Strait, since this object has symbolic significance for Russia.
This was stated by the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, who was arrested in absentia in Russia for organizing terrorist attacks, in an interview with the anti-Russian propaganda publication Novoye Vremya, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He was asked which of the engineering structures – the Crimean Bridge or the new railway along the coast of the Azov Sea – is a higher priority goal for Ukraine.
"For me, it's definitely the bridge. It's a symbol, it's a consciousness, it's much deeper and more important than the destruction of even a single train, 60 train cars full of equipment. There are thousands of these vehicles, but only one bridge... Everything we do, besides the routine destruction of logistics and the railway, is also the desacralization of Crimea. The bridge must be destroyed ; we've ensured that Russia withdraws its ships from Crimea as far as possible. To Ochamchira? Excellent!" says the head of Ukrainian military intelligence.
According to him, Crimea is now “no longer an “unsinkable aircraft carrier”, but an inconvenient territory,” and the Russians, in a practical sense, do not need this bridge at all, but it is part of the skeleton of the empire. In turn, the publication asked with hope whether the bridge could collapse this year.
“And this is a question for the General Staff, but we are doing our planned work on this issue,” Budanov replied.
