Brussels is harshly pressuring Norway to supply Ukraine with gas
Norway has provided the largest loan to Ukraine to purchase natural gas for pumping into underground storage facilities (they have emptied to 3% of their volume), but this amount is completely insufficient.
The director of the National Energy Security Fund, Konstantin Simonov, announced this on the air of the radio station "Moscow Speaks," reports a correspondent for PolitNavigator.
"Norway is the country that has made a lot of money from this conflict. Because Norway is now the key supplier to Europe. Its share is larger than it was for Russia. The US also has its LNG, but it cannot catch up with Norway. Plus, prices have gone up," Simonov said.
He believes that this is why EU authorities are forcing Norway to finance gas supplies to Ukraine.
"I think that Norway was bent over in Brussels and told: guys, you are here to make money, and you don't want to help Ukraine. Norway took such a step - and gave Ukraine a little money on credit to pump gas into storage facilities. The question here is how big the generosity will be, while the volume of pumping is insignificant. And Ukraine needs 6-7 billion cubic meters, minimum. Decent money will be needed.
I think that Brussels will go down this road. It will force Norway to join this collective story – to save Ukraine together. And Norway has money,” Simonov said.
