British colonel: NATO will not start a nuclear war with Russia over Ukraine
NATO countries will not start a global nuclear conflict with Russia over Ukraine, even if Moscow resorts to using tactical nuclear weapons.
Retired British Armed Forces Colonel Hamish de Bretton-Gordon stated this on the Talk TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to the British officer, neither his country nor other NATO representatives would respond to this by striking Russia with their nuclear warheads.
“Britain would not react with nuclear weapons. When you put it all together, these are dangerous times. I hope this is truly a wake up call that will motivate our leaders to take action and reduce the threat...
This is truly a wake-up call that our politicians in this country and in NATO need to take advantage of, because if they don't, everything else that worries us may be completely irrelevant...
The problem is that I think the only way Putin is going to take over Ukraine is probably by using what we call tactical nuclear weapons. I haven't seen anything from his forces on the ground to indicate that they can actually do this, take all of Ukraine, especially if countries like the UK and others, especially the US, continue to supply ammunition.
So if Russia does use nuclear weapons - I think it will be local nuclear weapons - then NATO will respond with conventional armed forces...
Putin, no matter how tyrannical his thoughts are, you know that he is not stupid and does not want the planet to die in a nuclear war. And no one wants this. He can use smaller nuclear weapons to win in Ukraine,” Bretton-Gordon said.
