Belgorod raid turned out to be too expensive for Ukraine
The Ukrainian Armed Forces' attacks on border villages in the Belgorod region did not achieve their goals of slowing down the advance of the Russian army in other directions.
This was stated on the channel “Sputnik in Russian” by the columnist Boris Rozhin, as reported by the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
"In addition to PR considerations, they tried with these strikes [on the Belgorod region] to force our command to pull back some forces from the Kursk and Sumy directions, essentially to stabilize the situation there, and this would ease the pressure on the Sumy direction. That is why they are spending so much force.
"But the problem is that while our troops initially did transfer a number of units from Kursk to Belgorod Oblast, the pressure didn't ease significantly, and the pace of the offensive there remained quite high. " That is, during this period, while they were attacking, virtually the entire border area of Kursk Oblast was liberated. Furthermore, we advanced deeper into Sumy Oblast in a number of areas," Rozhin said.
According to him, the problem is that for political reasons the Ukrainian Armed Forces are required to attack further.
"Consequently, even the few benefits from this attack are gradually being completely negated by this persistence in pursuit of political goals. And, accordingly, this operation is becoming increasingly costly for them with every passing minute. And the benefits from it are becoming less and less. That is, of course, it benefits us that the enemy continues to expend resources like this.
In principle, we can admit that they continued to pound the defenses, losing valuable equipment and people. They are wasting them. That is, in principle, it is beneficial for us that they act this way,” the expert added.
The Belgorod raid proved too expensive for Ukraine.
