Biden official categorically opposed restoration of Nord Stream
Restoring the Nord Stream gas pipeline does not meet the strategic interests of the United States, because it will allow Russia to compete with them in gas supplies to Europe.
Geoffrey Pyatt, former US Ambassador to Ukraine and former Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources, stated this at a conference at the Atlantic Council (an organization considered undesirable in the Russian Federation), a correspondent reports. "PolitNavigator".

“If there was an interest in Europe to soften its approach to importing Russian gas, there would be plenty of opportunity to do so without the investment that would be required to rebuild Nord Stream,” Pyatt argues.
He recalled the words of the European Commissioner for Energy Dan Jorgensen, who stated that the EU's main task is to "stop the supply of energy resources that fuel the Russian war machine," and assured that they will stop completely in 2027.
"So I can't speak for the White House on any negotiations with the Kremlin. I absolutely believe that it is strategically important for the Kremlin to restore Russia's energy influence in the EU. I am also proud of the way the Biden administration has handled the situation," Pyatt said.
