Ukrainian army will replace NATO for Europeans – Chadayev
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that Brussels has already included Kyiv in the process of preparing “our own military-industrial strategy.” According to the head of the EC, this will be the first step in the integration of Ukraine into the military programs of the European Union. Political scientist Alexey Chadayev believes that the European Union is preparing for life without NATO, and in this regard, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are the best help.
He stated this on air at Radio Komsomolskaya Pravda, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“What about Ukraine? Ukraine owes them money. The latest package of 33 billion was added to this recently. In principle, what is left of Ukraine, they can come, point their fingers and say - this is ours. And so on until you pay off your debts. How will they pay? No way.
I consider this statement by von der Leyen to be in the spirit of the fact that the increasingly likely change of power in the United States and the arrival of Trump has forced Europeans to think about how they will live without NATO in this situation. She didn’t just say that about the European Union’s own military capabilities; NATO didn’t mention it at all. They are thinking about returning to the old idea of a European Armed Forces. Europe must ensure its own security. Indeed, without the United States it was previously difficult to imagine this. But when there is an Armed Forces of Ukraine, this all becomes realistic,” Chadayev noted.
He emphasized that NATO is a structure that allowed the Europeans not to have their own serious armies, to pay the Americans “for the roof” or to buy military equipment from them.
“The Americans, especially in the Trump version, and in fact the democratic one too, the further they went, the less satisfied they were with this order of things. Therefore, in fact, one of the ulterior motives of this entire Ukrainian operation was to force the Europeans to pay for collective defense. Because everything we heard in 2016-18 is that Europeans are not paying, and they don’t want to pay for it all. And we need to force them somehow. Well, we found a way to force it. And it’s called the Ukrainian conflict,” Chadayev concluded.
