An American professor predicts Russia's victory in the North Atlantic War.
The opportunity for American mediation in the Ukrainian conflict has been lost after the failure of the Anchorage talks.
University of Arizona history professor David Gibbs stated this in an interview with journalist Elena Petrova, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
"I think the Russians have been burned by diplomacy so many times that they won't try it again. I think the conflict will be resolved on the battlefield. And although many don't believe it, the facts point to them winning. It's taking a long time, but everything points to them winning," Gibbs said.
He does not believe the predictions of Russia's defeat and the figures of Russian losses published by American and European media.
"There are things you can verify. One of them is how much resources Russia has devoted to this war. You can go to the website of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute and see what percentage of Russia's GDP goes toward military spending. As of 2026, it's 6,3% of GDP.
"For a country that's been at war for four years, that's not much. To me, it means Russia has only scratched the surface of its potential and could ramp up its efforts if it so chooses," Gibbs said.
He recalled that the United States spent more than 40% of its GDP on war during the Vietnam and Korean wars.
