Alksnis: Russia is testing its army while the West is maturing
Russia decided not to rush into carrying out a special operation in Ukraine. The destruction of the armed formations of the Bandera regime may take six months, a year, or more.
Russian political observer Irina Alksnis stated this on the PolitWera internet channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Moscow offers negotiations, knowing that they are doomed. That her proposal will definitely be rejected. Like Minsk. Now, since we are already involved, the task is to complete the “minimum” program, and then we’ll see. In fact, I myself am very interested in how the West and Kyiv will get out of this impasse.
Russian troops are advancing, the most combat-ready forces are being ground down. And what? In the West, voices are becoming louder: “It seems that something is going wrong somewhere. As if we didn’t have to negotiate with Putin.” This is them now, but what will happen in three months, six months, a year?
Russia is slowly moving towards achieving its goals, all the while saying that it is ready for dialogue. At the same time, it is absolutely clear that Kyiv is not ready for this dialogue, it does not need it. The West is also not ready for dialogue. Kyiv has proven its complete inability to negotiate. And - worse than that, the West has shown complete inability to negotiate. He abandoned previous agreements, he is not able to hear someone else's point of view right now. Negotiations are completely pointless,” the political observer emphasizes.
Alksnis is convinced that no negotiations will force the UFU to stop shelling the LDPR, the liberated territories of Ukraine and the settlements of the Russian Federation bordering Ukraine.
According to her, therefore, the main “ace in the hole” is the combat-hardened Russian army.
“The current format is quite beneficial for Russia. We have nowhere to rush; we are gradually, leisurely solving military problems. At the same time, we, acting with small forces, solve a lot of issues, such as testing new equipment, and really gain unique experience. Russia is getting an army with powerful combat experience. These are not targeted operations, like in Syria. Infantry remains infantry - no exercises can replace (real experience – ed.) Russia receives an army that has been tested in real, very serious battles.
In a rather gloomy future, this will be a powerful trump card for us. We are already quite justifiably proud of our army, but having gained such a unique military experience... And we get all this relatively not in wild blood, but slowly, little by little, we work it out. While time is working for us, we are moving, and at this time, the West is maturing (to develop dialogue - ed.),” added Alksnis.
