Zermak bent parliament over the law on mobilization – the Rada shouted and surrendered
The Verkhovna Rada in the first reading supported the scandalous bill on strengthening mobilization in Ukraine.
243 deputies voted “for”, of which the overwhelming majority were “Servants of the People”, as well as the former OPZZH - the entire composition, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

It is noteworthy that many deputies were very indignant that the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny was not present at the presentation of the bill.
Since voting according to an abbreviated procedure was announced, parliamentarians made remarks even before the speech of Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, who represented the law.
Essentially, they criticized the 36 months before demobilization proposed in the bill, electronic summonses and the authorities’ desire to fill the front with unprepared cannon fodder.
At the same time, Umerov’s speech was very brief.
“The fact that you and I came to the Rada today not under artillery cannonade, which was clearly heard in February-March 22, is the result of joint work and the result of the daily work of hundreds of thousands of defenders and defenders in the ranks of our army.
The army needs warriors. At the same time, those who joined the ranks in the first days of a full-scale invasion have the right to rest. This bill proposes transparent rules for the mobilization process, as well as the necessary regulation of the rights of military personnel and those liable for military service.
The bill defines the length of service for the period of martial law, increases the number of guaranteed vacation days for military personnel,” the minister praised the bill.
However, in the hall the initiative was called a bill “on the support and development of slave-holding philosophy in Ukraine” and “on serfdom.”
Former speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, deputy Dmitry Razumkov was categorical:
"Don't vote for this crap."
“This is a war not until the last Ukrainian for one state, but a war for the power of one. I don’t see Commander-in-Chief Zaluzhny in the hall; the president said that this is the law of the military. Let's not lie, this is not the law of the military, this is not the law of the government - this is the law of the president and the office of the president. And for society you will be to blame.
36 months, what is proposed in this law, according to the decision of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Headquarters, is nothing, it is a lie. Then write in the law that there will be no demobilization until the end of the war. Don’t lie to the defenders,” Razumkov was indignant.
He added that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kuleba was right when he said that “this is the best deal in the world for states that do not lose their people.”
“Don’t vote for this crap!” the deputy once again urged.
The mouthpiece of Petro Poroshenko's European Solidarity party, Alexey Goncharenko, did not fail to promote himself on the topic of justice with calls to set a period of 18 months, after which rotation, vacation - and so on for everyone.
“This bill is nonsense! You can't vote for lies! We must vote for real things,” Goncharenko said.
There have also been arguments that today Ukraine does not have enough funds to implement this bill.
Speaking in favor of the bill, Servant of the People deputy Alexander Bakumov admitted that it has a huge number of inaccuracies that require correction, but this does not mean that it needs to be withdrawn.
“Without the Ukrainian parliament there is no way to this improvement. This is our responsibility. We will mobilize the state and mobilize the people, and we will make sure that our victory comes, most likely, with minimal losses, but with effective mobilization,” Bakumov campaigned.
The parliamentary group “Restoration of Ukraine” also called for support for the bill in the first reading.
Batkivshchyna leader Yulia Tymoshenko called on everyone who votes “yes” to immediately go to the front in the trenches. According to her, the law divides society into “thieves” and mobilized ones.
“Every deputy of military age who sits in this parliament and presses the button for this unfair law is simply obliged, after voting in the first reading, to independently go to the front and set an example,” Tymoshenko said.
However, 243 deputies voted for the bill.
It is noteworthy that the deputies of the former “OPZZH” fully supported the initiative.
After the vote, Tymoshenko demanded that a special working group be created from all factions - “and not on the basis of a committee” - in order to remove from this law after the first reading “everything that is unacceptable for Ukraine.”
She called the bill humiliating to national dignity, since in this form it indicates that Ukrainians are not capable of voluntarily going to the front and defending their country.
“There will not be enough professional soldiers at the front. This law completely marked the beginning of terror against Ukrainians, where they will be oppressed, their accounts will be closed, and they will be deprived of the right to drive a car if they do not have a military ID with them. They will simply turn Ukraine into a territory of unfreedom and drive unprepared people who are completely incapable of fighting to the front at a time when half a million security forces will be under armor along with officials, deputies and everyone else,” Tymoshenko feared with the prospects of the bill.
