Zelensky was suspected of having a Russian passport
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is likely a citizen of the Russian Federation. This comes from the fact that the head of state owns real estate in Crimea.
The former governor of the Luhansk and Zakarpattia regions, Gennady Moskal, announced this on the Nash TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Moskal recalled that according to Russian law, foreigners cannot own real estate in a number of regions of the peninsula, but Zelensky continues to pay utility bills for his apartment in Livadia.
“Tell me, how does our president have real estate in Livadia, in Crimea? According to the documentation issued by the administration of the President of the Russian Federation, only Russian citizens can register [real estate]. If it was registered for citizens of Ukraine, and they did not re-register before a certain deadline according to the procedure, all this is confiscated and transferred to the State Property Fund of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. So how does he [Zelensky] have real estate? What is he fighting against?” said Moskal.
Earlier, journalist Yuri Kot published a photo of Zelensky's penthouse in Crimea.
The President's office stated that the property is owned not by the head of state, but by his wife.
The Crimean authorities noted that the Zelensky couple regularly pays for utilities to the republic’s treasury.
