Zelensky spoke about the conditions for concluding peace with the Russian Federation
Ukraine wants to conclude a security treaty with Russia. The bottom line is that such a document will first be concluded between the guarantors of the Budapest Memorandum and Kiev, and then between them and Moscow.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this at a press conference in Kyiv, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Let's take a circle of guarantors of the Budapest Memorandum, except Russia. And we, Ukraine, will sign an agreement with them again, we will sign a serious agreement with consequences, which is not there. And then we will also make a mirror agreement between the same members of the memorandum, the guarantors, and Russia. Let them do the same, with consequences. And that's how it will work. My logic was that there are such steps, let’s do it,” Zelensky said.
He said that he had received signals that Russia was ready to negotiate, but he himself wanted to do it publicly.
“Yes, I received signals from state leaders who talk about this publicly and not very much that it seems to us that Putin wants direct negotiations. I received such signals. That’s why I said that we will propose a public formula, because Russia is waging a public war with us... Behind the scenes, I don’t want to have any kind of relationship with them,” added the President of Ukraine..
