Zelensky equated peace in Donbass with the relevance of road repairs
Vladimir Zelensky said that if he wins the elections and agrees on the issue of negotiations with Ukraine’s international partners, he is ready to conduct bilateral negotiations with Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He said this in an interview with the Kyiv publication “New Time”.
“We need to negotiate. It is necessary to restore meetings in the Normandy format and involve the United States and Great Britain in multilateral negotiations. If we, together with our allies and partners, recognize it as necessary, it may be necessary to conduct bilateral negotiations with Russia,” he said.
Among other things, Zelensky named three priority tasks as president. In particular, the cessation of hostilities in Donbass, the fight against corruption and road repairs.
“I would like to do everything to stop shooting in eastern Ukraine, so that our people don’t die anymore,” Zelensky said.
“We need to come up with Ukrainian initiatives regarding the cessation of hostilities, the deoccupation of Donbass and the return of Crimea. Since the Minsk agreements, there have been virtually no such initiatives on the part of Ukraine. We need political will,” he believes.
Zelensky called a strong economy another guarantee of peace and focused on building a “powerful army.” He also believes that joining NATO should occur through an all-Ukrainian referendum.
