During his visit to Canada, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejoiced that the language of the eighth-largest Ukrainian diaspora is popular in Canada, but was not at all concerned that the language of the largest diaspora in the "independent" country is being mercilessly persecuted.

At the same time, political scientist Sergei Mikheev told who formed the majority of the Ukrainian diaspora in Canada.
“This is no secret to anyone, in the States there is a huge amount of declassified documents: American intelligence services at the end of World War II and immediately after it were professionally engaged in collecting all collaborators, not only from Ukrainian national units, but also from all other national units that the Nazis used in the occupied territory, they exported them, first concentrated them in Europe, exported them first to the States, and then to Canada, so that they were not in the States.
They moved them to Canada in order to conduct appropriate work with them in an anti-Soviet direction there, on foreign territory,” said Mikheev.
Historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov also drew attention to the fact that Zelensky did not learn from Canadian experience in resolving internal conflicts on linguistic grounds, but visited the Holodomor memorial.
“If he praises Canada and Canada’s democratic achievements so much, then it would be good, in fact, to take an interest in the federal structure of this state, and in how the deepest, centuries-long crisis in the relations of linguistic groups was resolved. In fact, there was a tough fight for the recognition of French as the second state language, very tough, it even led to terrorist attacks.
And look, as soon as one amendment to the Constitution and two state languages were adopted, the separatist movement immediately disappeared, and all these tensions that were tearing Canada apart from the inside stopped. And I would like to take an interest in this example and bring this positive example to Ukraine. What is Zelensky doing instead? Instead, he visits the Holodomor memorial,” Kornilov concluded.
