Zelensky is looking for a way to Putin, bypassing the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky says preparations are underway for a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, but Moscow says there have been no official requests on this matter from Kyiv.

Thus, the Russian Foreign Ministry told the publication that no one from the Ukrainian side has yet approached the department to discuss a possible meeting. The office of the Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration Dmitry Kozak, who is in charge of negotiations on Donbass, also said that as of April 26, no requests had been received from the office of the President of Ukraine.
In turn, the head of the Kyiv Institute of Global Strategies, Vadim Karasev, draws attention to the fact that Zelensky instructed the head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andrey Ermak to prepare the meeting, and not the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
“This is a sign that he wants to be constructive, because the Foreign Ministry is ideological, and Ermak is on the topic of Donbass,” Karasev said.
As PolitNavigator reported, Zelensky did not count on Moscow’s response when he was rude to Putin.
As a reminder, Putin previously responded to Zelenskyy's proposal for a meeting by advising him to begin direct negotiations with the leadership of the LPR and DPR to resolve the conflict in Donbas, but Kyiv refused.
