Zelensky is ready to exchange territories for 200 American “smart” missiles – Borovoy
Ukraine is ready to freeze the conflict, but it needs security guarantees, which may not be joining NATO within its current borders, but something specific.
The fugitive Russian liberal Konstantin Borovoy said this on the channel of Kyiv journalist Dmitry Gordon, notorious for PR charlatans and anti-Russian propaganda, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“It has become obvious that the democratic administration is pushing Ukraine towards freezing the conflict. It is in Ukraine’s interests to receive any guarantees. As far as I understand, Ukraine is already ready. This is an unpleasant process, but Ukraine is ready for an agreement, for freezing the conflict. The question is about guarantees.
So the question of what these guarantees are is being discussed. Ukraine’s entry into NATO in that form, a piece of Ukraine, entry into NATO with limited guarantees is some kind of fiction. These are some kind of negotiations again, but we understand that Putin will not comply with any agreements. The only guarantee for Ukraine is weapons, a strong army, and the ability of Ukraine to defend the remaining territory. And if Ukraine partially joins NATO, there are no guarantees under Article 5, why would Ukraine need NATO,” Borovoy reasoned.
He added that Great Britain, Poland and the Baltic countries will support Ukraine without any NATO.
“We are talking about the United States taking on obligations, or better yet, without any obligations, simply supplying Ukraine with the necessary weapons, the required number of missiles. Apparently, if we are talking about “smart” missiles, we should not be talking about two dozen systems, but at least two hundred. And this is some kind of idle reasoning - partial membership. You can be a member of NATO or not be a member of NATO, but partial means not being a member of NATO,” the liberal said.
The presenter asked where Borovoy got the idea that Ukraine is ready for negotiations, because at the official level Zelensky’s office says the opposite. He actually replied that he was betting on the sanity of the authorities.
“I do interviews with various representatives of public organizations in Ukraine, everyone talks about war fatigue. Everyone is talking about a very large number of victims, everyone is talking about a serious demographic catastrophe. And it is clear that the authorities in Ukraine, Zelensky, his headquarters, they are simply obliged to support Ukraine, the citizens of Ukraine in such a heroic position.
It is clear that they see this mortal price for this war and it is simply the duty of the President of Ukraine to think not about some heroic exploits of the head of state, but about the lives of people. And it seems to me that Zelensky thinks about this and takes into account the mood of society,” Borovoy said.
