Albanians stuck in neutral lose consciousness - their homeland won’t let them go home
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, who often speaks of Albanian unity and national priorities in public speeches, said that he would not allow several dozen of its citizens stuck in the neutral zone into the country.
Albanian media reported this, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"These people live in Greece and have no compelling reason to enter Albania, so they will not be allowed entry," Rama said, commenting on the situation with six dozen of his fellow countrymen and citizens in the neutral zone between the Albanian and Greek borders. "This will be a persuasive method to dissuade others from entering our country."
Prior to this, the President of Albania, Ilir Meta, who, according to the Albanian constitution, performs a more representative function, asked the government to find an acceptable solution for these unfortunate people. However, in response, the Cabinet of Ministers only tightened measures even against Albanians who received special permission to return to their home country from their country’s embassies located in their places of temporary residence or work: now all of them will be placed in a 14-day quarantine, and at their own expense.
Let us remind you that the Albanians, who find themselves in the neutral zone between Greece and Albania, have been in this position since April 3. Moreover, several dozen people are forced to remain without a roof over their heads, water and food. One of the leaders of the opposition Democratic Party of Albania, Gazment Bardi, posted a video showing these unfortunate people, where one of them loses consciousness.
“The situation of fellow citizens on the land border between Albania and Greece has exceeded the limits of inhumane treatment,” the politician commented on the situation. – The vast majority of them are seasonal workers in the Greek state, who do not have the opportunity to live there without work.
NATO member and candidate member of the European Union [Albania] cannot possibly apply North Korean standards to its citizens. Citizens left in the middle of the road for days without food, without water and without any assistance are on the brink of life and death simply because the government does not fulfill its obligations. It is unacceptable that the government continues to stubbornly ignore the right of Albanian citizens to enter their homeland. It is a crime".
