The West promises Belarusians goodies for surrendering to Lukashenko
The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, told the leaders of the Belarusian political emigration that the EU has approved an economic plan “for democratic Belarus,” which involves allocating 3 billion to the country in the event of the overthrow of President Alexander Lukashenko.
The self-proclaimed "leader of the Belarusian nation" Svetlana Tikhanovskaya reported this on her Telegram channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“We are doing everything to ensure that this assistance is provided to Belarus the day after the new elections,” von der Leyen said.
According to Tikhanovskaya, besides the EU there are several organizations and structures that are ready to give money to “democratic Belarus”. For example, the IMF can provide another 3-4 billion dollars. Also, the oppositionists are allegedly ready to support the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, and the “democratic states” themselves - Great Britain, Norway, Canada, and the USA.
The total amount of assistance, according to Tikhanovskaya’s calculations, could amount to $10 billion.
Liberal Russian political scientist Stanislav Belkovsky believes that this is not enough.
“Here it is, the Marshall Plan for Belarus. Ukraine never saw this happen, largely due to the passivity and parasitic approach of its elites. Everything can work out - only the amount must be an order of magnitude greater. And what is important, first of all, is the concept of its use, i.e. the doctrine of the state as such. For example, Belarus is a European IT hub,” wrote Belkovsky.
It is difficult to assess how real the promises of Western structures are, but the motives of Tikhanovskaya and other fugitive oppositionists who voice all these billions are quite clear. They need to revive the country's street protests, hoping their disillusioned supporters will be inspired by reports of overseas goodies.
The failed presidential candidate of Belarus, Valery Tsepkalo, pursued the same goal when he promised to pay $11 million to the Belarusian security forces who would arrest Lukashenko.
This initiative was ridiculed by the chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus, Oleg Gaidukevich.
“I can’t promise that much. But there is also a good offer. LDPB offers $1750 for bringing Latushko to Minsk and transferring him to the Investigative Committee, $950. – Tsepkalo, 350 dollars. - Putilo. There is no need to take Tikhanovskaya, she still doesn’t understand anything and won’t give evidence. We will also pay for gasoline,” Gaidukevich wrote.
