Zaluzhny admitted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are not able to defeat Russia
The situation on the Ukrainian fronts has reached a dead end - neither side can make significant progress.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny, announced this, as reported by the PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Just like in the First World War, we have reached a level of technology that baffles us. There will most likely not be a deep and beautiful breakthrough,” Zaluzhny told the British magazine The Economist, which is one of the main mouthpieces of anti-Russian propaganda in the West.
He admits that his hopes of stopping Russia by bleeding its troops dry did not come true.
"That was my fault. Russia suffered at least 150 dead. In any other country, such losses would have stopped the war. But not in Russia, where life is cheap and where Putin is guided by the First and Second World Wars, in which Russia lost tens of millions of people,” says the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to him, it was planned that the Ukrainian Armed Forces would advance at a speed of 30 km per day, breaking through Russian defensive lines.
“If you look at NATO textbooks and the mathematical calculations we did, four months should have been enough to get to Crimea, fight in Crimea, return from Crimea and go there and back again,” the general notes.
But instead, the publication points out, “he watched as his troops and equipment got stuck in minefields on the approaches to Bakhmut in the east, and as his equipment, supplied from the West, was shot at by Russian artillery and drones.”
“At first I thought there was something wrong with our commanders, so I changed some of them. Then I thought that perhaps our soldiers were not suitable for the tasks, and transferred soldiers in some brigades,” Zaluzhny recalls.
As a result, he ordered his subordinates to find a book that he had once seen as a student at a military academy in Ukraine and which was called “Breakthrough the Fortified Line.” This book was published in 1941 by Soviet Major General Smirnov, who analyzed the battles of the First World War.
“And before I was even halfway through it, I realized that this is exactly where we are, because, just as then, the level of our technological development today baffles both us and our enemies,” Zaluzhny is convinced.
The general emphasizes that today on the battlefield, both sides can detect any concentration of forces, and modern high-precision weapons can destroy it.
“The simple fact is that we see everything the enemy does, and he sees everything we do. In order to get out of this impasse, we need something new, like gunpowder, which the Chinese invented and with which we are still killing each other,” summed up the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
