The head of the DPR, Alexander Zakharchenko, spoke about this in an interview with military commander Semyon Pegov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In 2014, when the encirclement of the group that was stationed near Ilovaisk ended, they left there en masse. Then we formed about four hundred people - we simply selected conscripts under the age of 20 and simply released them. There were 198 people. We kept the rest with ourselves. Some of them were transported to Snezhnoye, some were transported to Donetsk, where they were engaged in repair and maintenance work to improve cities and restore destroyed housing,” Zakharchenko said.
The head of the republic noted that this is how the Armed Forces of Ukraine restored what they had destroyed.
“The second such incident was during the assault on Debaltseve, when an entire unit of the 128th Infantry Brigade was captured, or rather, the remnants of the unit. Since they are Rusyns, that is, essentially, ours, Russians, we let them go. Unfortunately, this brigade is still fighting against us. They are now standing near Gorlovka,” noted the head of the DPR.
“These are the most striking cases, but in fact there were many more. They sent the kids home and called their parents to just pick them up,” Zakharchenko added.
