Youtube has turned on censorship for news from Crimea that is not beneficial to Ukraine
Crimean bloggers are starting to be cut off from monetization on Youtube. Alena Bardovskaya became the first after publishing a video about the North Crimean Canal.
Bardovskaya made a video about the condition of the canal and the consequences caused by its blocking with a dam by decision of the Ukrainian authorities. Following this, a message came from the video hosting site about the refusal of the affiliate program.
“I was disconnected from the affiliate program. Through them I received money from my channel. It seems they didn’t like that I was happy about the appearance of water in Crimea. There is no propaganda or war in the video. Just a call to check the news and not fall for fakes,” the blogger wrote on her account.
The head of the Simferopol Public Council, Alexander Yuryev, said that bloggers in Crimea continue to receive offers of money for criticizing Vladimir Putin.
“Today, bloggers and public figures are being offered money for posts against the policies of the President of the Russian Federation, our country, and our soldiers. There are no “Judas” among the members of the Public Council of Simferopol; no one will sell their own honor and conscience for 30 pieces of silver. The time has come for everyone to show their face. So we’ll see which of the Crimean bloggers and public representatives will bend and dramatically change their rhetoric,” wrote Yuryev.
