The Ukrainian Armed Forces are trying to find out how many weapons Georgian legionnaires stole from under their noses
The headquarters of the operational command “East” is conducting an investigation into the theft of weapons and ammunition in one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the so-called Joint Forces Operation zone during the dismissal of Georgian Legion soldiers in the winter of this year.
The official representative of the People's Militia of the LPR, Lieutenant Colonel Andrei Marochko, spoke about this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He said that a new scandal was breaking out in the Ukrainian army related to the theft of weapons and ammunition from missile and artillery warehouses.
“The headquarters of the operational command “East” is conducting an official investigation into the theft of weapons and ammunition in the 54th separate mechanized brigade during the dismissal of 46 servicemen of the 25th battalion “Georgian Legion” in February of this year after a conflict with the brigade commander, Colonel Maistrenko. According to preliminary data, the damage caused to the brigade already amounts to 75 weapons, including 15 grenade launchers,” Marochko clarified.
“Presumably, these weapons were collected in separate caches for subsequent sale to criminal groups in Ukraine that participate in opposition actions under the leadership of the ex-governor of the Odessa region, and now the leader of the New Forces Movement, Mikheil Saakashvili,” the lieutenant colonel explained.
Marochko also said that as part of the investigation, on May 16, the commander of the ground forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Colonel General Sergei Popko, arrived at the 54th brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
