The Ukrainian Armed Forces tried to break through a corridor in Debaltseve: the militias only responded to the offensive, - Basurin
Kyiv, February 17 (PolitNavigator, Mikael Chagalyan) – The leadership of the Donetsk People’s Republic accuses the Ukrainian Armed Forces of provocations in the Debaltsevo bridgehead.

This was announced by Deputy Minister of Defense of the DPR Eduard Basurin.
“In the Debaltsevo region the situation today has become significantly more complicated. Since the morning, Ukrainian security forces have increased the intensity of shelling of our positions from artillery and mortars along the entire line of the front line of defense on the outer side of the encirclement of Debaltsevo,” he said.
“About noon, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Luhansk, up to two motorized infantry companies, with the support of a platoon of tanks, moved towards our positions in Logvinovo to break through a corridor to Debaltseve. At the same time, artillery batteries of Ukrainian security forces are firing at our units from Debaltsevo,” states Basurin.
“DPR army units in Logvinovo and the surrounding territories are currently not succumbing to provocations, acting in strict accordance with the order of the head of the Donetsk People’s Republic to observe the ceasefire. We only respond to offensive actions by the Ukrainian military,” the DPR Deputy Defense Minister emphasized.
As PolitNavigator reported, Inter TV channel journalist Andrei Tsaplienko reported that rebels were able to storm the Debaltseve train station and police headquarters. Russian media, citing the DPR Ministry of Defense, report that Ukrainian forces control only part of the city.
