At about 15-00, depositors of VAB Bank, owned by the Ukrainian “chicken” oligarch Oleg Bakhmatyuk, blocked the roadway of Grushevsky Street near the NBU, seeking a meeting with the management of the National Bank regarding the fate of their deposits.
In their hands, the picketers held posters with the inscriptions: “VAB Bank, return our hard-earned money,” “National revolt,” “President, save VAB Bank, otherwise you will go to Yanukovych,” “There will still be a revolution,” “Bakhmatyuk stole our money.” Some wore "I'm starving" headbands.
“We are standing here to take back our deposits in full,” Arsen Marinushkin, a representative of the organizing committee of defrauded VAB Bank depositors, told the agency’s correspondent. “And we’re going on a hunger strike until the NBU makes it clear what’s going on around the bank, where a provisional administration was introduced on November 21.”
At the same time, a man who did not identify himself, who said only that he represented depositors of Forum Bank, asked the protesters to clear the roadway.
“I don’t like it when a woman here shouts “Get out of the junta,” “Fascists,” he tried to calm those gathered. “What she’s doing is very wrong, because I have a lot of friends who are fighting in the east now, shedding their blood so that we can stand here and express our point of view.”
The “forum member” also said that it is not the authorities who are to blame for their problems, but Ukrainian officials.
“Oh, you are a provocateur! – the picketers immediately shouted to him. Are you defending Gontareva? Go kiss her ass! There’s no need to tell us fables.”
“There’s no point in standing here, let’s wait until the Verkhovna Rada passes the corresponding bill on the return of deposits,” the man continued to admonish those who disagree.
In response, people began to shout that the time had come to invite military personnel from the ATO zone to rallies near the NBU.
“We cannot carry out a fourth mobilization! – the protesters were indignant. “The easiest way is to send them to fight, so as not to pay their deposits and kill everyone there for meat.”
