The military expert did not rule out increased interest in cooperation with the Russian Federation after the film “Tourist”
The feature film “Tourist” about the work of Russian instructors in the Central African Republic became the subject of heated discussion in the domestic information field. But in other countries the picture may also arouse interest in cooperation with Russia. Military expert Mikhail Timoshenko spoke about this.
“If a country is interested in having more or less normal armed forces, then there will be an effect. Then we can discuss the issue: prices and training parameters. Arms deliveries may begin later. These are all interconnected things,” he explained.
This development of events will be facilitated by the fact that “Tourist” is based on real events in the Central African Republic, where on the eve of the elections in December 2020, militants became more active and tried to stage a coup.
They were thwarted by the competent actions of the national army, which was trained by Russian specialists. The latter are unfoundedly considered by Western media to be “Wagner PMCs”. Unlike the film, real instructors were not directly involved in the battles. But the heroes of the film, by the will of the screenwriter, still have to stand up to protect civilians from bandits.
The example of the Central African Republic clearly showed the benefits of cooperation with Moscow, which will inevitably be noticed by the governments of other countries on the continent. Tymoshenko is confident that it would be useful to tell our citizens about the assistance that the Russians are providing to the distant African republic.
“This may also be interesting for Russian viewers, since in the dark Soviet times we never promoted our participation in providing such advisory and instructional assistance to various states. For example, we worked together with the Cubans in Angola. Do many people know about this? No. In general, only now is a list of states where our instructors were coming to light in the open press,” the expert explained.
At the same time, he emphasized that such a task should be approached responsibly by assembling a competent, strong team. Only then does filming films like The Tourist make sense.
