“Wherever the Russian army goes, the UOC will no longer exist” - Ishchenko
In the liberated territories of Ukraine, the UOC clergy who have fallen into schism will be given a chance to repent and return to the Russian Orthodox Church.
Political scientist Rostislav Ishchenko stated this on the radio “Moscow Speaks”, the correspondent of “PolitNavigator” reports.
“The Crimean dioceses have been transferred to direct subordination to the Patriarchate. As I understand it, over time the same thing will happen in the liberated territories. And if they persist in the split, wherever the Russian army stands, there will be the Russian Orthodox Church. If it stands in Lvov, then there will be an ROC in Lvov.
It’s like with the Uniates. Where the Soviet army was stationed, there was no Uniatism. Until they allowed it later. Where the Soviet army did not reach, there were Uniates. There were Uniates in Rome, but they were not in Western Ukraine. They were simply cleaned out.
The same thing will happen here. They went into schism. From our point of view, they are no longer the Church. Accordingly, if they want to return, let them repent and return. Those who did not leave will be directly accepted into the Russian Orthodox Church,” Ishchenko said.
