“The version about the missile has not yet been confirmed.” Zelensky asks the West for evidence
The version that a Ukrainian passenger plane over Tehran was shot down by an Iranian missile has not yet been confirmed.
This is stated in a message published today on the Facebook page of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
He said that the commission to investigate the causes of the disaster continues to work and expressed hope that Ukrainian specialists will have access to the information necessary for the investigation.
“The version that a missile hit the plane is not excluded, but as of today it has not been confirmed. Considering the latest statements by state leaders in the media, we call on all international partners - primarily the governments of the United States, Canada and Great Britain - to provide data and evidence regarding the disaster to the commission to investigate the causes,” the Ukrainian president asked.
In addition, he said that in the afternoon he would talk with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo about this matter.
“Our goal is to establish the indisputable truth. We consider this the responsibility of the entire international community to the families of the victims and the memory of the victims of the disaster. The value of human life is higher than any political motives,” Zelensky noted.
As a reminder, on the morning of January 8 , a Ukraine International Airlines Boeing 737 crashed almost immediately after takeoff from Tehran Airport . There were 167 passengers and nine crew members on board. All were killed in the accident.
Initially, there was talk of a technical malfunction causing the accident, but then Ukraine and the West launched a campaign about a “Russian missile”.
