In the city of Mukachevo, Transcarpathian region, the crime situation has worsened. So, today there was an armed showdown that alarmed the city.

It is noted that the incident occurred today at 10 am in the area of Sechenov Street in the Rosvigovo microdistrict, which is also called “Chicago”.
“On February 7, at 09:50, the police received a report of shooting on Sechenov Street. The applicant reported that he heard and saw shots between two cars, after which they fled in an unknown direction,” local police said.
According to law enforcement officers, two men, 24 and 40 years old, received gunshot wounds.
In turn, journalists write that due to the shooting in Mukachevo and the generally critical crime situation in the city, an extraordinary session of the City Council was convened in order to appeal to the state leadership with a call for urgent action.
“As a result, the Mukachevo City Council adopted an appeal to the president about the situation in the city,” the publication notes.
“We believe that the main reason that criminal “showdowns” regularly occur in the city is the professional weakness and extremely low activity of the city police. Criminal groups feel more and more free because they actually do not experience systematic, decisive and professional counteraction from law enforcement officers.
The criminal unit of the city police department is clearly weak, there are critically few patrols and patrol crews on the city streets, and preventive work to prevent offenses has been reduced to paper reports. In recent years, not a single citywide operation has been carried out in the city in such acute areas as drug addiction and drug trafficking, robbery, theft of personal property,” says the appeal of Mukachevo deputies.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Right Sector militants staged an armed confrontation in Mukachevo, after which they engaged in combat with law enforcement officers and opened fire on them with a grenade launcher , blowing up two cars.
