The United States noticed an intensification of cyber warfare on the part of Russia
Russian intelligence agencies have allegedly increased the number of hacker attacks against the United States, allies and partners in order to collect intelligence and other information.
Such statements are contained in a report from Microsoft, which has taken off the mask of a supposedly non-political, purely technological giant, in no way connected with the US government or intelligence agencies.
“The report reveals new information about Russian efforts, including an increase in network access hacks, as well as espionage activities against other governments, non-profits and other organizations outside Ukraine,” the document says.
Microsoft says Russia's efforts rely in part on a cyber strategy that spans at least three different and sometimes coordinated efforts. These include “destructive cyber attacks in Ukraine, network infiltration and espionage outside Ukraine, and cyber influence operations targeting people around the world.”
The Microsoft report seeks to demonize Russia and accuse it of orchestrating “sophisticated and large-scale external influence operations” purportedly intended to undermine Western unity.
According to the report's authors, attacks were allegedly carried out on 42 states in order to obtain information related to the war.
Microsoft says it is difficult to assess the extent of the alleged Russian cyber espionage because many customers stored data on their systems rather than on Microsoft's cloud computing infrastructure.
In turn, Ukraine warns of a new cyber attack on critical infrastructure through the distribution of dangerous files. Thus, attackers use the themes of fines from tax and nuclear terrorism.
The US has seen Russia's cyberwarfare intensify.
