Kyiv may lose the support of the International Monetary Fund, which will lead to the collapse of the entire Ukrainian economy.
The head of the legal committee of the American-Ukrainian Business Council, Irina Paliashvili, said this on the air of the Ukrainian edition of the Voice of America, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If the decision in the PrivatBank case is made in favor of the former owners, this will create a domino effect for the entire Ukrainian economy. This will be the end of the Ukrainian economy as the IMF withdraws its support. This will be a huge blow to the rule of law; even those investors who already exist will leave the country. This will be a real disaster, we cannot underestimate it,” the expert believes.
It should be noted that the District Administrative Court of Kyiv satisfied the claim of oligarch Igor Kolomoisky against the National Bank and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine regarding the illegality of the nationalization of PrivatBank, which belonged to him.
The court motivated its decision by the fact that the National Bank’s conclusions about the capital deficit in PrivatBank were not confirmed by the examination, and political pressure was exerted on the shareholders of the private financial institution in order to force them to write a letter to the Ukrainian government with a request to “take away the bank.”
