The American border is bursting at the seams - over several years the number of clashes has increased many times, and several million illegal migrants have entered the States.
This was stated by the Chairman of the Committee on Transportation, Carlos Jimenez, at a hearing of the US House of Representatives' Homeland Security Committee, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“In fiscal year 2020, there were 458 encounters at the border; in fiscal year 2021, there were 1 encounters at the border, an increase of 734%. In fact, there have been no significant changes in funding, so this whole story about how somehow the problem is funding, in fact, it is not the funding - the problem is the policies, and the policies that were not implemented by this administration and your department in particular has led to the catastrophic failure of our migration to the United States, where there is a 686% increase in encounters at the border with the same amount of money in both '400 and '400.
Now, in FY22, the situation has become even worse. There are 2,3 million reported encounters at the border, and we also know that the number of fugitives has increased significantly. There are now almost two million people in this country about whom we have no idea. We don’t know where they came from, we don’t know where they are, and we don’t know why they are here,” Jimenez said.
