Depardieu's accounts blocked in Russia
The Federal Tax Service's Leninsky District Inspectorate in Novosibirsk has suspended transactions on the accounts of individual entrepreneur Gerard Depardieu at VTB Bank, Gazprombank, and KS Bank, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
This was reported by the RBC Novosibirsk publication.
The amount of debt due to which the accounts were blocked was not specified. It follows from the document that the tax service made a decision on June 20.
At the same time, no enforcement proceedings initiated against Gerard Xavier Depardieu were found in the bailiff service database.
Depardieu's representative Yuri Mosman said that the partial restriction of expense transactions on accounts in accordance with Art. 76 of the Tax Code - “a standard and regular situation for any taxpayer.” He explained that after this the taxpayer makes a reconciliation with the tax office, and if the debt is not confirmed, the restriction is lifted.
In mid-January, the Moscow tax authorities blocked the account of Gerard Depardieu Production Center LLC with VTB Bank. From the data “Contour. Focus" it follows that the blocking has not yet been lifted. “The taxpayer has accrued tax of about 19 thousand rubles, and the overpayment is 26 thousand rubles. “This means that there is actually no debt,” Mosman told the publication.
Depardieu received a Russian passport in January 2013. He did this after the French authorities introduced a 1% tax on income over €75 million. In February of the same year, he received a residence permit in Saransk and an apartment in Grozny. Depardieu registered in Novosibirsk in December 2018 “due to a more advantageous geographical location.” Depardieu's business partner Julia Mosman stated that the actor was launching a business in Novosibirsk related to the production and supply of products. He also plans to shoot a series of documentaries about Russia.
Depardieu's accounts have been frozen in Russia.
