The Rada does not want pardon for Ukrainian terrorists convicted in the Russian Federation
After the adoption of the law “on national security,” Ukraine must convey to NATO the demand to increase and expand sanctions against Russia.
Chairman of the Popular Front faction Maxim Burbak stated this during today’s meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The deputy noted that his faction has been promoting the text of the new Constitution for the third year now, which talks about consolidating the course towards the EU and NATO.
The Popular Front also advocates legislative changes to protect Ukraine's information space both from Putin's propagandists and from monopolization and censorship. Among them is a bill on transparency of media ownership, a project to establish criminal liability for denying the fact of Russian aggression, and on postal delivery of Ukrainian-language printed publications,” the people’s deputy voiced the faction’s position.
Also during the speech there were some “Ukrainian hostages of the Kremlin.”
“The main tools for the release of Ukrainian hostages are economic and international legal pressure on Russia, which the whole world should join. To discuss the prospect of a pardon and, in general, the legal essence of the charges against the hostages means justifying their abduction,” Burbak said belligerently.
“Recently, the Verkhovna Rada approved the law “on the national security of the country.” This is another step in Euro-Atlantic integration, and we are waiting for this law to come into force before the NATO summit. The NATO summit is also an opportunity to convey to our allies the country’s clear, consistent position on the war and the peace process.
Sanctions against Russia need to be increased and expanded! Ukraine needs adequate financial assistance and increased supplies of lethal weapons. On this issue, the president and the Verkhovna Rada must be indestructible, and then the whole world will listen to us,” added Burbak.
