Norway realized that they were sponsoring Ukrainian Nazis
Right-wing radicals are on the rampage in Ukraine, regularly attacking participants in peaceful demonstrations.
This was reported by the Norwegian publication ABC Nyheter , citing a report by Landinfo, an organization that operates under the direction of Norway's Department of Immigration (UDI) and aims to obtain reliable information about various countries.
It is noted that the situation is of serious concern, especially since Ukraine annually receives large sums of money from the Norwegian government, but “politicians are doing little or nothing to solve the problem of ensuring the security of peaceful events.”
The report indicates that relations between influential right-wing extremist groups such as Right Sector and the authorities are difficult. As a recent example, women's demonstrations on March 8 were attacked by Ukrainian ultranationalists, which were not prevented by the police.
In addition, the document reports that right-wing extremist groups also attacked city authorities in Lviv and Kyiv.
“There is an opinion that such right-wing extremist groups enjoy a high degree of impunity. Kyiv hesitates when it comes to taking any measures against such groups,” writes Landinfo.
The impunity of the radicals is explained by the fact that “right-wing extremist nationalists played a major role in the war against Russian-backed rebels in the east.”
At the same time, the report indicates that there are close ties between members of the Ukrainian government and groups on the far right.
"Landinfo cites Interior Minister Arsen Avakov as an example, having long-standing ties to the Azov Battalion. The Azov Battalion is a paramilitary unit using SS symbols and has become part of the official Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Norwegian Foreign Ministry hesitated when asked to respond. Landinfo also cites a Washington Post report indicating that Deputy Interior Minister Vadym Troyan is a member of the neo-Nazi paramilitary organization Patriots of Ukraine," writes ABC Nyheter.
