NATO has not heard anything about the “accelerated procedure” for accession invented by Zelensky
Ukraine’s application for “expedited access” to NATO, signed with pomp by Vladimir Zelensky, is just a PR campaign. The alliance itself has not heard anything about such a practice.
NATO Assistant Secretary General Baiba Brazhe stated this in an interview with the Current Time TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is no special accelerated procedure. Finland and Sweden have been fully integrated for many decades, both militarily and politically, and in terms of all values, and so on. Everything was already clear about them, so ratification will take place much faster. But, at the same time, not all states have done this, so we are still working – NATO, Sweden and Finland, we are working with Hungary and Turkey,” Brazhe said.
"And in the case of Ukraine, won't the accelerated process bring it any closer?" she was asked.
“I can’t comment. There is no such legal term “expedited process”. There is no such thing. It happens that each state is individual, and the process is individual,” answered the NATO representative.
NATO has heard nothing about Zelensky's invented "accelerated procedure" for joining.
