The Russian Foreign Ministry did not disclose all the details surrounding the Nord captured by Ukraine.
The situation with the crew of the Russian fishing vessel Nord, seized by Ukraine in the Sea of Azov on March 25, remains without significant changes.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this today at a briefing in Kerch.
“The Russian Embassy in Kyiv provided the crew with accommodation and food. Our consulate is in constant contact with them, and the lawyers continue their work. We will strive for the speedy return of the sailors,” Zakharova said.
She did not answer the question why the Nord sailors refuse to recognize themselves as citizens of Ukraine, as required from Kyiv.
“Let me not reveal all the details of what is happening now. The task of returning sailors and preserving their health is being solved. We know from other examples how Ukrainian security forces behave towards detainees who are in one way or another connected with the Russian Federation. Disclosure of details could harm these people,” Zakharova added.
As PolitNavigator previously reported, on April 19, two Nord crew members managed to leave the territory of Ukraine using Russian passports issued at the Russian consulate in Kharkov. The remaining team members were detained at the Ukrainian border.
