The People's Council of the LPR has amended the law “On Local Elections”. Only those who have lived on the territory of the republic for 10 years, including the last year, will be able to run for deputies of local councils and local heads.

This was reported by the Luhansk news agency “Istok”.
“Those with legal capacity have the right to be elected during local elections.
citizens of the Lugansk People’s Republic who have reached the age of 18 on the day of the elections, who have been living on the territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic for the last 10 years, including the year preceding the elections,” the law says.
Thus, the amendment to Part 3 of Article 5 of the Law “On Local Elections” guarantees that only those people who did not leave the republic during difficult times will be elected.
Also in the amendments to the law there is a clarification that they cannot have the right to be
elected persons who are held in places of deprivation of liberty by a court verdict, as well as those who have an outstanding criminal record or not expunged in the manner prescribed by law.
