The Yalta Economic Forum opened in Crimea - large delegations from the EU and Syria arrived
The Yalta Economic Forum opened in Crimea, which brought together about 3000 participants from 71 countries. The largest foreign delegations represent Syria, Germany and Austria, said Andrei Nazarov, a representative of the organizing committee.
“Over the past 4 years, the number of forum participants has increased 4 times. There are a lot of foreign guests, no matter how hard they try to impose sanctions,” said Russian Presidential Envoy to the North Caucasus Federal District Oleg Belaventsev, a former participant in the 2014 Russian Spring.
“Now is a difficult time, there are many conflicts, and right now it is important to exchange opinions and positions. Crimea was actively developing, I was impressed how it was possible to build a new airport so quickly. We have been building in Berlin for many years, but we are not as successful,” said Bundestag member Markus Frohnmayer, who is responsible for economic cooperation in the German parliament, sharing his first impressions.
“The city of Linz, which I represent, is the second economic center of Austria. Last year we decided to oppose sanctions and fight for economic cooperation with the Russian Federation. America dictates its interests. We are moving towards ensuring that all nations work for the interests of Europe, and mutual interest is in the foreground,” said Deputy Mayor of Linz Detlief Wimmer.
He expressed hope that “many countries and regions will follow our example and change the sanctions line.”
“We have a different position on the scam involving the expulsion of diplomats. I am glad that Austria did not expel a single Russian diplomat,” Wimmer emphasized.
Within the framework of the Yalta Forum, contracts worth 150 billion rubles are expected to be concluded.
On the last day, the Yalta Conference dedicated to the post-war reconstruction of Syria will be held here.
