The “people's mayor” of Slavyansk, Vyacheslav Ponomarev, reported this with reference to eyewitnesses.
According to him, provocations were avoided thanks to reinforcements that arrived from Slavyansk, RIA Novosti reports.
On Friday evening, “strong young” people began to gather on Lenin Square in the city of Kramatorsk near the City Council. The rioters in the city council recognized them as participants in the rally “For a United Ukraine,” which took place on Thursday.
Explaining their actions with the Geneva agreements, the young people began to disperse people from the barricades. After activists from Slavyansk arrived to help supporters of federalization, supporters of a united Ukraine retreated.
Let us recall, as Navigator reported, the leadership of the “Donetsk People’s Republic”, like the leaders of the militias in the cities, did not recognize the Geneva agreements.
