Kiev admitted that American ships do not want to expose themselves to Russian missiles
American or other ships of NATO member countries in the Black Sea perform exclusively a demonstration task; from a military point of view, the water area can be perfectly shot from both sides.
Ukrainian expert Mikhail Gonchar stated this on Radio Liberty, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I don’t think that the USA and Great Britain will violate the Montreux Convention; there is no need for them to leave serious fleet forces in the Black Sea. They can solve all combat missions from the Mediterranean without going into the Black Sea, which has limited dimensions in terms of the use of modern weapons. Since Soviet times, anti-ship missiles have been shooting right through the Black Sea from the territory of Crimea and Sevastopol. Roughly speaking, the ship left the Bosphorus, it can be easily destroyed. Therefore, no one will be substituted.
Therefore, visits by American or other NATO ships are largely of a demonstration nature in order to deter Russian expansionist aggressive intentions,” said the Ukrainian expert.
