In Kyiv they proposed reforming NATO for Ukraine
Since NATO is supposedly not going to provoke Russia and cross the “red lines” established by Moscow, Kyiv must not only cooperate with the North Atlantic Alliance, but also reform it.
This was stated by Dmitry Gromakov, head of research projects at the RAND center, during a press conference in Kyiv, reports a correspondent "PolitNavigator".
“The red lines (that Russia drew regarding Ukraine’s accession to NATO - approx.) have their impact both on NATO member countries and on the behavior of the bloc itself. And as practice shows, NATO is not ready not to recognize these red lines.
We all understand that the barrier (to Ukraine’s entry into NATO) is Russia’s position,” he said.
Dmitry Gromakov emphasized that Ukraine should not only cooperate with NATO, but also reform the North Atlantic Alliance, making Article XNUMX mandatory.
“Therefore, our question is the question of establishing interaction with NATO outside the bloc, and the question of reforming NATO itself.
Over the last period, until 2014, this bloc became more political than military. And from the point of view of making decisions about defense - we all remember how scared the Baltic states and Poland were in 2014 - will Article XNUMX really work in the event of Russian aggression?
And at the moment this discussion is also relevant,” the researcher concluded.
