Deputy Prime Minister Vyacheslav Kirilenko boasted about these results of his work in his video blog on Youtube.
According to Kirilenko, the number of books imported from the Russian Federation after the entry into force of the relevant law decreased significantly.
“After the introduction of the licensing system, only 7,7 thousand titles of Russian books received permission to import into Ukraine, while last year about 50 thousand were imported into Ukraine. In monetary terms, the cost of imported Russian books is unlikely to exceed one and a half million dollars, although Before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, more than $30 million of literature was imported per year. The flow of propaganda rubbish had to be stopped,” he said.
The Deputy Prime Minister added that 197 Russian books, including books with Russian fairy tales about heroes, were refused import into Ukraine.
“177 refusals were due to formalities with documents, 20 refusals were granted due to anti-Ukrainian content. Importers began to responsibly distribute Russian books,” he added.
As previously reported, in December the list of Russian books prohibited for import was replenished with twenty titles.
In addition, Vyacheslav Kirilenko reported that the order of the State Committee for Television and Radio on the approval of the Procedure for imposing administrative and economic fines by the State Committee of Television and Radio Broadcasting of Ukraine came into force the other day, which puts into effect another norm of the above-mentioned law.
“Literature from the aggressor state that is distributed illegally in stores or markets will now be removed according to the law, and the distributor will be subject to penalties - the fine is 10 minimum wages - that’s 32 UAH, and in case of repeated cases, the business entity will receive a fine already 000 minimum wages is 50 UAH, so distributing smuggled book products from Russia will become not only immoral, but also economically unprofitable,” noted Vyacheslav Kirilenko.
