Kiev expects progress on the issue of peacekeepers in Donbass after the resolution of the Korean issue

The UN resolution on the introduction of a peacekeeping mission in Donbass will be adopted immediately after the resolution of the Korean issue. Political analyst Dmitry Korneichuk stated this today at a press conference in Kyiv.

“The issue of adoption of the resolution stalled because it rested on the promotion of the Korean issue. Now we see that the two Koreas have begun negotiations, which means that Russia has fulfilled its obligations to Washington to pacify North Korea. Accordingly, Washington will give the go-ahead for the adoption of a resolution on the deployment of peacekeepers to Donbass,” Korneychuk said.

Immediately after the adoption of the resolution, political processes in the LDPR will begin, he is sure. In the meantime, the issue is being resolved, the exchange of prisoners will continue.

“We must understand that there are two participants in the process: Washington and Moscow. These are the global players who make decisions on all issues related to Donbass. It was they who, in the spring of 2017, decided to restart the Minsk process within the framework of agreements that I call a big deal.

As long as there is an installation of global players, we will see progress. We are watching them. This is a truce. This is a one-year extension of the special status of Donbass - this law was adopted under pressure from Washington. This is a prisoner exchange. We must understand that all the talk about Medvedchuk’s personal initiative means nothing. There was a team from Washington and Moscow,” Korneychuk said.

Let us recall that now the position of Russia and the United States regarding the introduction of peacekeepers into Donbass is radically different. Moscow proposes to introduce a UN contingent to guard the already existing OSCE observer mission. The Americans support the Ukrainian scenario, according to which a foreign police mission will help clean up the LDPR.
