Kiev is preparing for decades of confrontation with Russia
A quick return of Donbass to Kyiv’s control is impossible; Ukraine must prepare for decades of confrontation with Russia.
This was stated by Ukrainian political scientist Vitaly Kulik.

“I exclude any options for referendums and direct negotiations with the “LPR” and “DPR” (their “authorities” are not subjects, not independent players). It is possible to negotiate something with the Russian Federation as an aggressor country. But, at least under Putin, she will not agree to this...
The Croatian scenario (forceful solution to the conflict) is impossible. The Russian Federation is not Serbia of the 90s, but a powerful nuclear state. And we are opposed not by a crazy Milosevic, but by a well-thought-out strategy of the Kremlin...
Unfortunately, I believe that this conflict will last for a long time. And that we need to learn to live in a situation of conflict, like Israel. And think through not mythical plans for “pacification”, but a strategy for existing next to the aggressor country that occupied part of Ukraine. And, of course, prepare for the liberation of their land,” Kulik said in an interview with Politkom.
“As for the topic of peacekeepers, so beloved by our president, in this way we will only mothball the conflict, but will not reintegrate the uncontrolled territories. Peacekeeping operations did not reunite Cyprus (and there have been peacekeepers there since 1964), and did not bring peace to the Middle East. Where it worked (in Sinai or East Timor) there were completely different players and different conditions than ours. And there have always been agreements between the parties to the conflict. What we don’t see happening in the near future. But our politicians will talk about peacemakers and a quick peace. And they will lie to get votes from the electorate,” the Ukrainian expert said.
