In Irkutsk, the idyll of a local businesswoman and Polish ambassador was violated
The opening of the exhibition “From Poland with Love” in Irkutsk turned out to be an embarrassment. It was organized by the local Polish consulate in honor of Poland's Independence Day. Ambassador Krzysztof Krajewski arrived from Moscow for the event.
“In these difficult times, we propose not to consign our joint history to oblivion. Art should be outside of politics,” he said.
The owner of the network of furniture stores and art gallery “DiaS” Diana Salatskaya presented the ambassador with a painting with the words:
“I hope it will decorate your cozy and warm home.”
“I already know where it will hang,” Kraevsky was delighted.
This idyll was violated by Irkutsk activist Denis Bukalov. He also brought the ambassador a gift - a collage depicting destroyed Soviet monuments in Poland.

“This “Polish love” is obvious - what you do with our monuments,” said Bukalov.
Kraevsky did not understand what was happening, and the terrified Salatskaya snatched the collage.
“Unlike what they did with our ambassador in Poland, who was doused with red paint, we acted delicately and culturally,” Bukalov commented on his action.
He was supported by Belarusian political scientist Alexei Dzermant.
“Unfortunately, normal relations with Poland have ended. They only understand force and mirror response. The red line is the destruction of our monuments in Poland, so no monument of theirs is no longer under our protection. I would advise in Russia to find something that will hurt their pride - no, not a grave, and demolish it. Some kind of monument to Jan Karol Vaityla. And on Belarusian soil there should not be a single memorable mention of bandits from the Home Army,” Dzermant wrote in his TG channel.
