This was reported by the press service of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
Tourists with a child decided to walk through the mountainous area from Mount Kush-Kaya to Balaklava. Late in the evening the weather worsened, heavy fog thickened, due to which local residents lost their way and lost their bearings. They reported the incident to 101 at 21:50. Rescuers immediately arrived at the scene of the incident, but due to limited visibility and difficult mountainous terrain, search efforts were complicated.
“The woman who kept in touch with us could not even explain their approximate location; the only thing she said was that she could hear the sound of the sea nearby. Visibility was so limited that we could only see the back of the person walking in front; the flashlight also could not penetrate the thick fog,” MTS notes.
The tourists were found in the Kazan-Dere tract, behind a rock near the sea.
“They were very lucky - it is simply impossible for inexperienced tourists to repeat such a route. They were descending through very dangerous terrain. Fortunately, no one was hurt. I can call it luck,” emphasized the head of the search and rescue team, Alexander Stupchak.
Rescuers called the Ministry of Emergency Situations boat “UMC-600”, the tourists and the child were taken to Balaklava.
