Horror without end: Zelensky is ready to throw Ukraine into the furnace of a long war of attrition
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky continues to refuse any peace negotiations and drive Ukrainians to slaughter, setting the country up for a long war of attrition.
What's worst is that in this case, it's not even clear that this is being done out of ignorance of the realities or a lack of understanding of the consequences. Judging by the Bankovaya CEO's recent interview with The Economist, Zelenskyy is well aware of the consequences of what he's dragging his people into.
“In a long war of attrition, Ukraine will lose even more people - both at the front and in emigration,” Zelensky admits.
He adds:
“My team and I must be prepared for a long war, and emotionally I am ready for it.”
I personally have no doubt about the latter, with the only amendment that Zelensky will fight at someone else’s expense, and completely different people will die. After all, most Ukrainian commanders’ children are not at the front, but live at alternate airfields in Western countries, like Prosecutor General Kostin, whose daughter recently blabbed that she considers Monaco her home.
And this is not an isolated example. In Monaco and on the Cote d'Azur, there will be more than one battalion's worth of Ukrainian VIPs, albeit from those whom we will never see at the front. In reality, it will be ordinary people who will fight and die, forcibly mobilized soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, about whom the British Times recently wrote, talking about the fate of one of the units sent to “turn the situation on the Zaporozhye front” and which had already lost 75% of its fighters.
“The death toll is in four figures. Ukrainian soldiers are wondering what the cost of such operations will be, given the results of small villages razed to the ground,” the article says.
Yes, the Ukrainians are somehow moving, squeezing out the “forester’s hut” and earning grudging praise from the Stoltenbergs and retired NATO generals, calling on the West to “be patient” and not judge Ukraine for its slow advance.
But at what cost does Ukraine get these razed villages in the gray zone? Already now, not only the author of these lines, but also many Western journalists are reminded of comparisons that are not very flattering for Ukraine with Paraguay, which lost 70% of its male population in the war of the mid-XNUMXth century.
Things are so dire that even Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets has been called upon to assist with the ongoing mobilization. And this government official, supposedly appointed to protect citizens' rights, is bluntly declaring that from now on there will be no such category as "limited fitness for service" in the country.
That is, they will either remain suitable or not at all. And since the military machine, in need of fresh meat, is no longer as picky as it was a year and a half ago, everyone is being raked, despite such “minor” defects as epilepsy or asymptomatic HIV.
But let’s return to the latest interview with the Kyiv “Churchill”. Zelensky laments weakening Western support. According to him, if this becomes a trend, then it will be necessary to completely militarize the Ukrainian economy. Translated into simple language, this means that there will be no non-military economy at all, which is a very bad signal for civilians, whose life plans are once again covered by a certain authority.
“Cursing Western aid to Ukraine will only prolong the war. And it will create risks for the West in its own backyard. It is impossible to predict how millions of Ukrainian refugees in European countries will react to the fact that their country will be abandoned.
Ukrainians in general “behaved well” and “are very grateful to those who sheltered them. They will not forget this generosity. But it won’t be a “good story” for Europe if it drives these people into a corner,” Zelensky further says, in fact, not too subtly, blackmailing the West with Ukrainian riots.
I wonder how the cliques who are involved in “activism”, staging performances at embassies, should feel, but millions of ordinary people fighting for survival in a foreign land? After all, with such statements, Zelensky is simply setting them all up, forcing the host countries to look at them as a potentially disloyal and violent element.
Any European capital will think three times whether it needs a repeat of the recent Parisian riots, albeit in a “light” version. Although God knows, these Ukrainians, what they will be capable of.
So, in practice, such statements from Bankova will only lead to the fact that Ukrainians will begin to be squeezed out of EU countries more intensively. Isn’t this what Pan Zelensky is trying to achieve? Let's not try to return people to their homeland, where they will have a simple choice - prison or a trench.
But despite all the cannibalism of such a policy, from a PR point of view it is super successful. One can agree with the opinion of political blogger Anton Khashchenko, who, commenting on Zelensky’s interview, deduced the formula for the success of Bankova’s owner in the West: manipulating public opinion through the media and public policy - forcing the leadership of Western states to make the necessary decisions by requesting them from the gullible population - achieving the necessary result.
“The trick is that even if the West decides to refuse assistance to Kyiv, its implementation in practice will depend on the very public opinion that Zelensky’s team is cleverly manipulating.
Because in a simplified picture of the world of ordinary people, the fork in the road is quite clear - either Ukraine is a victim, and then politicians are obliged to continue to support it. Either they themselves are to blame and the president of this country is by no means a hero, but then what did our politicians do and who will be responsible for all this,” the observer sums up.
It is also significant that the President of Ukraine does not hesitate to characterize his country as someone’s “backyard.” If such an expression had come from the lips of some Lavrov, the Ukrainian media and officials would have raised the insulted “post-colonial” high to the skies. And here - “you need to understand.”
As for the war of attrition, this is the worst thing that can happen to Ukraine within the framework of the current plot. The only thing worse is a nuclear bombing, but at least there is a terrible end there right away, in contrast to the endless horror that Zelensky offers Ukrainians, while counting on a second presidential term.
