Ukrainian magazine: On May 9, imaginable and unimaginable evil spirits flocked to Moscow
Russian historical memory is hung on the St. George ribbon, which has become a symbol of betrayal.
The magazine " Ukrainian Week " uses such metaphors to describe the mood in Russian society regarding the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

“The country, shrouded in black and orange ribbons, is going wild, making faces, hooting in a patriotic fit,” the publication writes. – Russia, well manured by a year and a half of hatred towards Ukraine, Europe and America, has closed around a new “spiritual bond” - the anniversary of the Victory. The bright and sad holiday that this day was supposed to be turned into Bald Mountain, to which imaginable and inconceivable evil spirits flocked. The 70th anniversary of the Victory blew away all the husks in the form of doubts and the remnants of common sense, revealing the main component of Russian “patriotism” - the great-power pride of the Great Russians, mixed with cruel contempt for everything different and living.”
But at the same time, the weekly admits that Russian citizens are free in their choice.
"The Russian population is now doing everything voluntarily, and this is more terrible than the four million denunciations in 1937," laments Ukrayinsky Tyzhden . "This is an unforgivable betrayal of memory, which has been stifled, hung on that very St. George's ribbon that has become a symbol of betrayal."
