Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister admitted that Ukraine could return under the wing of Moscow
Despite the past five years of enhanced “European integration” and the rejection of everything Russian, Ukraine has not yet passed the point of no return.
Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Vyacheslav Kyrylenko announced this on the air of the Pryamoy TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.
Based on his words, in Ukraine, despite the repression and fight against dissent that takes place in the post-Maidan years, there are still enough people who believe that the country is going the wrong way.
“This means that, in my opinion, the point of no return on the path to freedom, to Europe, to European values has not yet been passed. We are at exactly this point now. On the one hand, a long way has been passed and over these five years many decisions have been approved to bring Ukraine closer to Europe, to the EU - a visa-free regime and so on,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
He believes people take these decisions for granted.
“But many people believe that the direction of movement was wrong and therefore everything needs to be redrawn back and everything should be done differently. But in our Ukrainian case there are no middle ground in the geopolitical sense. There is either a path to the free world, this is the European path, or back to Moscow. That’s it, we don’t have a third middle path,” Kirilenko said.
As PolitNavigator reported, a survey conducted by three leading Ukrainian sociological companies showed that 78% of Ukrainian citizens believe the country is moving in the wrong direction.
